HORSEGIRL WORLD OF POTS AND PANS

Recent Matador signees Horsegirl release a new single 'World Of Pot's And Pans', a fuzzed out first love song, "or the closest thing to it", from their upcoming debut Versions Of  Modern Performance, due out June 3rd. The new track comes after a string of strong singles ('Billy' and 'Anti-Glory' and covers of Au Pairs and The Minutemen) the new track has a hazy blown-out feel to it, fuzzy guitars drag over pulsing drums and melodic bass reminiscent of the blissful pop of Galaxie 500. The references to 80s indie pop and post-punk are not accidental, the lyrics on 'World Of Pots And Pans' are "inspired by the misinterpretation of a Television Personalities lyric, imagine a (possibly unrequited) romance unfolding through references to Tall Dwarfs, Belle & Sebastian, and the Pastels." Another reference being the seeming inversion of the famous Gang Of Four line, 'sometimes I'm thinking that I love you, but I know it's only lust'. Wearing their references on their sleeves Horsegirl work together to make songs that sound new and exciting with the recent singles gearing up to a promising debut.
